15 Useful Applications Every Linux User Can Make Use OF
It has been quite some time since the last time I covered anything Linux related. So for all my Linux readers, I present 15 great Linux applications. Some of these apps will help out professional computer users only while others will benefit casual Linux users as well. All apps in my list are free and open source. Check out which tool suits your needs best and download it.
1. Ardour (Audio Editor)
Ardour is probably the most comprehensive open source audio recorder / editor I have come across. It supports a number of professional audio editing features such as multichannel recording, non-destructive editing with unlimited undo/redo, full automation support, a powerful mixer, unlimited tracks/busses/plugins, timecode synchronization, and hardware control from surfaces like the Mackie Control Universal. 2. Hugin (Panorama CreationTool)
Hugin can be used to overlap pictures. It features a friendly user interface and lets people easily create mosaics through individual pictures. Creating a complete immersive panorama through individual pictures is simplified by the app. Get Hugin from http://hugin.sourceforge.net/
3. Inkscape (2D Graphic Design Application)
Linux users looking for an open source vector graphics editor will be extremely pleased with Inkscape. The program offers a number of features offered by paid apps like Illustrator and CoreDraw. This tool uses the SVG file format. Get Inkscape from http://www.inkscape.org/
4. Krita (Paint Application)
Krita is a paint application with an impressive number of painting and sketching features. If you are bored and want to explore your creative side, this app can be a massive help. Get Krita from http://www.koffice.org/krita/
5. Blender (3D Graphic Design Application)
Blender is a very popular cross platform 3D graphic design application. You get numerous professional design features in this free open source 3D content creation suite. Get Blender from http://www.blender.org/
6. AvideMUX (Video Editor)
Looking for a competent video editor for your Linux machine? AvideMUX will do the job perfectly. Although it has a primitive looking interface, it includes all basic video editing features including simple cutting, filtering, and encoding tasks. 7. Beagle (File Search Application)

8. GParted (Hard Disk Partitions Manager)
Looking for a simple way to resize your Linux machine’s hard disk partitions? GParted is where your search ends. With its user friendly interface, it lets users resize partitions and create new ones with ease. GParted can be gotten from http://gparted.sourceforge.net/
9. Pidgin (Instant Messaging Client)
Pidgin is a wonderful cross platform instant messaging client aggregator that combines your contacts from various networks. HomeBank manages your personal finances. In addition to recording your data, the tool analyzes the information and provides a statistical and graphical breakdown of your finances. HomeBank is available from its site at http://homebank.free.fr/
11. DigiKam (Image Viewing)

DigiKam is an excellent image organizer for the KDE desktop environment. It supports almost all the major image formats and has the ability to organize collections of photos in directory based albums or dynamic albums by date, timeline, or by tags. - A flexible timetable for students which even supports different content for odd and even weeks (this is used by universities)
- A student booklet in which the user can keep track of the marks he gets in school, it even calculates averages and stores the date when the mark was given.It also contains absences too.


15. Sticky Notes (Note taking app)

As the name suggests Sticky notes is a useful app that enables you to create, view, and manage sticky notes on your desktop. In addition to that it lets you edit the title, contents, dimensions, and style of sticky notes. When the panel is restarted, for example when you log out and log in again, all sticky notes are saved and reopened in the same position with the same dimensions and style.
