Microsoft Annouces Windows Phone Live
Just like the Windows Live services for Microsoft Windows (desktop PC version) users, today Microsoft has announced the Live companion to their upcoming smartphone operating system, Windows Mobile 7. Dubbed as Windows Live Phone, this set of features and services will exactly mimic the Windows Live program, just for mobile users now.

It includes several interesting services which make it an unique offering which stands its own ground when placed with competitors. It has a great feature which goes by the title of “Find My Phone” which lets users get an updated status of their smartphones while actually being away from it. Other standard features of Windows Live Phone are almost the same as those offered by Windows Live to desktop users, which include Windows Live Calendar, Windows Live Skydrive and much more.
A statement in the Windows Phone Blog summaries few of the features offered by Microsoft to its mobile phone users:
..the new Windows Phone Live companion site that gives people a central place to see pictures they’ve published, view their Windows Live calendar and contacts, exchange OneNote files and access other information shared between the phone and the Web. The site will offer 25GB of SkyDrive and host the Find My Phone service, which allows people to find and manage a missing phone with map, ring, lock and erase capabilities right from your PC – and all for free.
However, it is still unclear that when Windows Phone will be made available to the general public for use. Like the majority of Windows Live services, the Windows Live Phone services will also be provided to mobile phone users free of charge (data charges while using the services may apply). The release date of windows Live Phone, as it seems, is not too far away since the URL, Windowsphone.live.com is now live as well. However, when a user signs in to the website, he/she gets an error message reading “No Windows Phone 7 Detected” and is then redirected to windowsphone.com.
One thing which is totally confirmed that the Windows Live Phone services will be available to users when Microsoft finally releases the Windows Mobile 7 later this year.
