Apple Hiring Antenna Engineers
As the entire tech-community knows, Apple’s iPhone 4 customers are facing very annoying antenna related issues with their handsets. Evidently reception is the problem. Apple claims it is because of a certain way the customers are holding their handsets. A class action lawsuit has been filed against Apple but the company refuses to accept that the antenna / reception issue is a design flaw.
But Apple’s claim of the issue not being a design flaw is now being doubted (even more than before) because exactly when the issue surfaced, Apple posted listings for antenna engineers. News about iPhone 4’s antenna problems started appearing on the web around June 23rd and that is when Apple posted three opening for antenna engineers. The job requirement included that the engineers should be able to “define and implement antenna system architecture to optimize the radiation performance for wireless portable devices.” And also, “The candidate should be able to design antennas suitable for wireless handheld devices with excellent radiation performance.”
These job listings hint that Apple fears the antenna / reception issue is indeed a design flaw but cannot detect it; that is precisely why they are seeking help by hiring new people who will have a fresh perspective on the issue.
