iPhone OS 4 Available For Free From June 21st
During the keynote at WWDC yesterday, many important announcements were made. Most of the announcements had the crowd applauding Apple’s plans for the future.
One such announcement was regarding iPhone OS 4. Firstly, the operating system will now be known as iOS 4. For tech-bloggers that is great news because “iOS 4” is easier to type than “iPhone OS 4.”
Secondly, iOS 4 will include, among other features, include multi-tasking, a unified inbox, and folders. The OS will also have Bing as an additional search engine option. iOS 4 will include the iBooks app as well (the app currently only available for the iPad).
iOS 4 has been declared Golden Master Candidate (Apple’s term for Release Candidate) and will be publicly released on June 21st. The OS will be back-compatible with all existing iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad devices but the feature availability will depend on your handheld device’s model.
Present Apple device owners will be able to upgrade to iOS 4 for free.
