Display Flash Cookies Stored On Your Computer
Today internet privacy and security are taken ultra-seriously by computer users. If we have other people using our computers, for one reason or the other we do not want them to find out our browsing history. If we are the sole users of our computers then we are cautious of our activities being tracked by Trojan malware or other tracking agents.
Cookies are one such tracking agent. They usually help slow down the loading time of a webpage you visit after the first time. They can also be used to track your internet activity therefore privacy-wise, it is best to remove them frequently.
While normal internet browser cookies can be easily removed (usually through the browser itself), Flash cookies are something harder to delete. They can show websites you have visited and offer unlimited cross-session tracking to website owners.
Like ordinary tracking cookies, our browsers do not provide the option to delete Flash cookies. A majority of the well known ‘cleaning’ software also do not have this ability. But we have finally found an amazingly efficient freeware that reveals the Flash cookies stored on our computer and lets us delete them; this utility is called FlashCookiesView.
This application displays the list of cookie files created by Flash component (Local Shared Object) in your internet browser, regardless of which browser you use (because all Flash cookies are stored in the same main folder). Sized at only 40KB and requiring no installation (just an extraction of the ZIP archive) FlashCookiesView is very easy to setup. Just open the extracted executable to run the program which will look like this while running:

For each cookie file, the lower pane of FlashCookiesView displays the content of the file in readable format or as Hex dump. We can also select one or more cookie files, and then copy them to the clipboard, save them to a TXT/HTML/XML file or delete them (by clicking on the red ‘X’ button in the panel on top).
FlashCookiesView gives us control over our computer’s stored Flash cookies and ensures that we are able to maintain our browsing privacy; this freeware is a great application every internet user should use.
