10 Free Websites To Resize Images Online

Often while uploading our pictures we need to adhere to the rules of the host website. Mostly these rules include restrictions on the image size and require you to upload images under a specific size. An example of this is choosing avatar pictures on forums. The size of the picture you can upload is usually 50×50 pixels, which is too small for normal pictures.

Now if you already have an image editing software installed which can resize picture, then great. All you have to do is open up that program, resize the picture, and upload the modified version. But for people who do not have such a program installed on their systems (or only the computer they are currently using such as in internet cafés), we have gathered a list of free websites which let users resize their pictures and obtain the results with ease.

Below you will find our compiled list.

1. ShrinkPictures

As far as website names go, ShrinkPictures could not have done a better job. And the site lives up to its name. Moreover not only are you able to resize your pictures, you can do so by choosing from three methods: selecting a predefined size, selecting a percentage reduction, or assigning your own dimensions. You can even go on and add the Black&White or Sepia effects in your pictures. Picture quality can also be chosen (the better the quality, the greater KB size of the picture).

The uploaded pictures need to be less than 6MB in size and must have be in JPG, GIF, or PNG formats. The results are always in JPG format.

2. PicResize

PicResize is another site with a fitting name and functionality. The resizing options offered are percentage reductions and specifying custom dimensions. Along with the formats supported by ShrinkPictures, PicResize also accepts the BMP format as an input. And unlike ShrinkPictures which always gives the output in JPG format, PicResize lets the user choose the output format from JPG, GIF, BMP, and PNG. A user can also choose to add effects such as Black&White, Rotation, Equalization, and more. A check bottom at the bottom allows us to save our settings saving us time the next time we use PicResize.

3. ResizeYourImage

ResizeYourImage has a unique feature which lets you not only resize pictures but do so while choosing which portions get resized. In other words, you can crop your pictures. While the ordinary resizing functionality can still be accessed by clicking on buttons on top labeled Width and Height, cropping the image is usually more convenient. Perhaps the only portion you want in the picture is under the size limit you require; in such a case, resizing a picture would not be as convenient as cropping because that would shrink your desired area as well. Images can also be rotated ninety degrees clockwise (that is the only rotation option available). The option to zoom in and out of an image is also available. Along with the image formats listed above, this site supports various other formats including TIFF.

4. ResizePic

If it is extreme simplicity and efficiency you are looking for, then ResizePic will serve you well. The site gets the job done very straightforwardly. All you do is select an image (in GIF, JPG, or PNG format) and specify its dimensions. The output format our pictures is JPG.

5. Resize2Mail

Resize2Mail lets you easily resize your images according to the type of image you require. You can choose from Portrait or Landscape aspect ratios. Within these ratios, further predefined sizes can be selected. Alternatively a user can simply choose from percentage reductions. Rotations are also supported by Resize2Mail.

6. Resizr

Resizr is a free online image resizing tool which offers its users an amazing array of functionality. You can upload images either from your computer or through a URL. Then you move on to an editing panel which lets you choose effects from Rotation, Sharpen, Resizing, Black&White, Sepia, Brightness, and adjusting the quality and format of the resultant image. All these features are packed into Resizr and can be used for absolutely free.
