Working on a virus free computer is one of the basic things which ensure smooth functioning of your computer tasks. A virus can infect your data and corrupt it; if it is a Trojan virus then your information will even be sent back to some hacker thereby compromising the integrity and security of your data.

As a cautious computer user good chances are that you already have a reliable antivirus and antispyware program installed on your machine. But what happens when you move on to somebody else’s computer? How sure can you be that their computer is not infected with a malicious program?

You cannot ignore the fact that you are simply unsure of how secure their system is. For instance if you are a computer troubleshooter and a system comes to you with a problem, the first step is to run an antivirus scan. You need to find out if the system is infected with a virus; only if the virus infection is ruled out, can you proceed with other tests. Another instance you need to be sure about the infection status of a computer is when you insert your filled-with-data flash drive into it. A virus can (and usually does) infiltrate your flash drive adversely affecting the contained data.

Since you cannot download and install an antivirus program for the systems you run which are not yours, you can use a portable antivirus which rests neatly on your flash drive. This antivirus will protect you flash drive data as well as help you scan the contents of the host computer.

There are a number of such portable antivirus programs available of which the tiniest and most effective ones is Portable Antivirus.

The antivirus comes in two versions: one can be installed on your hard drive like a regular virus. It can be set up to actively monitor the system and protect it. At 4MB, the size for this version is surprisingly small. The other version (standalone) is simply an executable of size 1.7MB which you can place on your flash drive. When you run this file, Portable Antivirus opens up offering to scan any file or folder you specify.

Portable Antivirus is a simple solution to a big problem and should be downloaded by all flash drive users.
