Microsoft Windows 2008 Server Foundation Released
There were rumors that Microsoft will release Windows Server 2008 Foundation soon. Not too long ago Microsoft has finally unveiled their latest server offering: Windows Server 2008 Foundation which happens to be a cut-down version of the Server 2008 family. It has been said that Microsoft won’t be selling it as a stand-alone product rathar, OEMs get to sell it pre-installed.

Windows Server 2008 Foundation can server up to 15 ysers and doesn’t support virtualisation and integrated email, while the other versions of Server 2008 also have simplified management. In addition to that another limitation is an 8GB RAM limit, but Microsoft explains that the machines that are going to power Foundation won’t really need more at this point.
Microsoft promises that prices of these packages will be remained below $1000. Steve Ballmer also made a statement about Foundation today, and explained that between now and September 30 2009, a portion of every Foundation sale will go to the non-profit organisations TechSoup and Telecentre. These organisations help non-profit organisations around the world with technology.
