Google.co.jp Penalized by Google
Google has penalized Google Japan for paying bloggers to write reviews. Google Japan was caught buying blog posts in a promotion campaign for one of its features. The search engine was ranked 9 before this incident. It has jumped down to PR 5 now and its expected to stay like that for quiet some time now.

Head of Google’s anti web-spam team Matt Cutts via Twitter writes, “Google.co.jp PageRank is now ~5 instead of ~9. I expect that to remain for a while.” As Google Japan’s karma goes down, Google HQ is able to show it cares about neutrality.
Question is, why would Google Japan need to promote their own compaign in a way that would risk their reputation.
