Convert Audio Formats in Gnome
Sound Converter is a free Linux application developed using GTK for the GNOME desktop that allows you to convert various audio files into other formats . It offers a very simple user interface and offers easy sound conversion for the GNOME environment. With SoundConverter, you have the option of encoding audio files to the formats: AAC, FLAC, Ogg Vorbis, MP3, and WAV.

Currently it supports anything the GStreamer Library can read including Ogg Vorbis, AAC, MP3, FLAC, WAV, AVI, MPEG, MOV, M4A, AC3, DTS, ALAC, MPC, Shorten, APE, SID and more. It also has the ability to write WAV, FLAC, MP3, AAC, and Ogg Vorbis files.
To run this application you require Linux, GNOME 2.x, Python, PyGTK, GStreamer, GStreamer-python, Gnome-python, GStreamer-lame for MP3 output.
