The list can go on and on and on…I just decided to post some of the best Torrentz client I know of but thanks a a lot for mentioning Azureus…Ill add it to the list right away
Seriously, why do you include µTorrent? Of course it can be made to run within Wine, but the “article” or “list” was topic-ed for “Ubuntu Linux”, which would incline natively.
Meh, I don’t know why I bothered to even comment.. or scroll through this..
Running uTorrent on Wine would be nuts when there are other excellent options that will run natively. Besides, it has been reported that the new owners of uTorrent (since late 2006, if memory serves) are in bed with the RIAA. In other words, uTorrent cannot be trusted anymore.
If you’re using uTorrent, you should either switch to something else, or use a very old version.
uTorrent has been removed from the list..I didn’t realize it would become such a big issue..
I’ll try to be more informative next time..my bad..
I’ve always thought Transmission was awesome and extremely simple to use. Yet somehow, it’s always missing from these lists..
Yeah I have to second your motion there Fireblend. Transmission has a lot of features (including a beautiful web interface, strikingly simple to use auto-updating blocklist, individual file selection, and more) and the interface is simple and uncluttered. It’s very stable. I tried Deluge for a few weeks and I gave up on it after it crashed for the 100th time.
Word to the wise: if you plan to use Transmission, set up the official Transmission repositories, don’t rely on Canonical for updates as they come much too late to be useful.
Transmission is a very simple, and terrific client for Gnome users. Ktorrent is terrific for KDE users. I wish Transmission had a bandwidth schedule like Ktorrent, but both are excellent.
As far as IP blacklisting goes, download and install moblock. It’s the peerguardian equivalent for linux.
List lacks Transmission.
It is simple, provide web interface and it is installed by default in many Linux distributions.
