I’ve used Recuva a couple of time and it’s actually pretty good for being free. I recommend trying it out.
In the past five minutes, I installed Recuva, deleted three files from my recycle bin and then immediately ran Recuva to undelete the files. No go. It didn’t find anything.
I also downloaded and deleted 2 files from my computer. It immediately scanned and found 1 file that was unrelated. I recovered it and attempted to open it – no go. Uninstalled.
HandyRecovery. I’ve undeleted files on hard drives that have been reformatted. With HandyRecovery you can find anything. Too bad it isn’t free.
Too bad the Linux guy was such a rabid fan boy. Windows users could drop to the command line and restore many of those deleted files. Or at least they used to be able to. All you had to know was how to use DOS.
Well, despite suspicions that these were Addware / Spyware I tried Recuva and it worked perfectly, definitely recommended. I didn’t try any of the others.

The best way to recover files is not to delete them ;-) I know that R-Studio, Recuva are good utilities for recovering deleted files. But, most of all I prefer Advanced File Recovery http://www.advanced-file-recovery.com/. It recovered almost everything valuable on my deleted, formatted and partially overwritten HD. And its quite easy to use.
