Top 5 ways to Minimize your website load time

Website load time is the most important part of your website/blog. Some of us do get a  glitch in our traffic every now and then and when it starts getting out of hand the  website takes more time to load which becomes quiet frustrating for the visitors. To avoid that try one of the following tools
1. Yslow

A Firefox extension that analyzes any web page and generates a grade for each rule and an overall grade. If a page can be improved, YSlow lists the specific changes to be made. It offers

  • Performance detail
  • Summary of HTTP/HTML
  • List of page components

YSlow calculates the total size of the web page for both empty cache and primed cache scenarios, as well as information about cookies. YSlow lists all the components in the page including their type, URL, Expires date, gzip status, load time, size, and ETag. You can also view the HTTP response headers for any component.

2. Mon.itor.us

Mon.itor.us is a online service that provides tools to enable monitoring and reporting of site response time.

To take advantage of this service all you need is a web browser and an internet connection. The approach is called on-demand or software as a service (SaaS), which provides significant cost and simplicity benefits over the traditional software model.

3. Jmeter

Apache JMeter is a  pure Java desktop application that designed to load test functional behavior and measure performance. It is used to test performance both on static and dynamic resources (files, Servlets, Perl scripts, Java Objects, Data Bases and Queries, FTP Servers and more)

4. HTTPERF

Httperf is an open source tool for measuring web server performance. It provides a flexible facility for generating various HTTP workloads and for measuring server performance. It has the ability to ability to generate and sustain server overload, support for the HTTP/1.1 and SSL protocols, and its extensibility to new workload generators and performance measurements.

5.PushToTest

PushToTest Maker is an open-source, performance and scalability testing application is PushToTest TestMaker.  PushToTest TestMaker is appropriate for your testing, governance, and business service managemen. It offers

  • Unit, integration, functional, load and regression test automation
  • Identify a scalability and performance index for capacity planning and SLA compliance
