iOS 4 Update Will Fix iPhone 4 Reception Issues
iPhone 4’s reception issue has bugged many of its customers. Apparently holding the phone in a certain way displayed lesser number of signal bars thereby indicating a weaker reception. As a consequence of this, a lawsuit was recently filed against Apple by two iPhone 4 owners. Their claim was that holding the phone caused reception loss and call drops.
Since the emergence of this issue, Apple has continued to claim that the fault is not a design flaw. At the same time the company has been trying to find the problem’s cause and remedy it. Now it seems that the solution might finally be here.
According to Apple, the formula used to display the number of signal bars on their phones is inaccurate. This problem exists in all iPhone handsets, not just iPhone 4. Because of this problem the bar are quite sensitive and a slight reduction / addition in signal strength causes a significant change in the number of bars. This problem was elevated in iPhone 4 because of the new antenna placement.
In simpler words, Apple is now claiming that the problem is not signal strength at all – your phone’s signals are fine, it is just that the bars are misleading. Apple will soon roll out an OS update which will remedy this issue by employing AT&T’s bars calculation formula.
This news will definitely bring relief to many iPhone owners. But people whose calls are dropped on the iPhone 4 still seek a valid solution to their problem – theirs is indeed a reception issue.
