Free open source MSN Messenger clone for Mac and Linux
There are lots of popular IM clients for both Mac and Linux but most of them lack many great features that Msn Messenger offers, such as webcam, audio clips and winks. Amsn is a free open source MSN Messenger clone which you can use with Windows, Linux and Mac. It offer great features like
- Offline Messaging
- Voice Clips
- Display pictures
- Custom emoticons
- Multi-language support (around 40 languages currently supported)
- Webcam support
- Sign in to more than one account at once
- Full-speed File transfers
- Group support
- Normal, and animated emoticons with sounds
- Chat logs
- Timestamping
- Event alarms
- Conferencing support
- Tabbed chat windows
aMSN does not take long to load and it is much quicker than booting into Windows. It automatically update language files and plugins from the web and it also support MSN Mobile service. My favorite feature would be “Tabbed windows” so that you can have group conversations using tabs.

More features can be added to aMSN with plugins, or for the adventurous, completely change the look of aMSN with different skins! It’s even more customizable than Windows Live Messenger.
